October 10, 2023 - Mapi Research Trust has recently enriched its catalogue with 3 new COAS, developed and owned by Professor Ewa Roos:

  • The Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS): aiming at assessing knee injury and osteoarthritis
  • The Hip disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (HOOS): to evaluate the patients’ opinion about their hip and associated problems
  • The Foot and Ankle Outcome Score (FAOS): to evaluate the patients’ opinion about their foot and ankle problems

Developed more than 20 years ago, these measures have been widely used in different settings including clinical trials and are considered today as the Gold Standards in the field of joint injury and osteoarthritis.

Willing to facilitate access to the scales whilst controlling their use and integrity, Professor Roos has entrusted Mapi Research Trust with the management of the KOOS, HOOS, FAOS and their derivatives.

The instruments are free to use for non-funded and funded academic users. On the other hand, commercial users and health care organizations/hospitals/medical centers must pay a fee. A permission is however always required.

Managing outcome measures available in many languages and making them available to users is a time- and resource-consuming task. I have served the community for more than 20 years but no longer have the time or resources needed. I have chosen Mapi Research Trust to take over my job as I trust they will continue this work in an excellent and professional way”, states Professor Ewa Roos.

The objective of Mapi Research Trust is to facilitate access to the scales by centralizing information. Through ePROVIDETM, users will have access to the original versions, the translations, but also the scoring material and other useful information on the KOOS, HOOS and FAOS”, informs Tatiana Canard, manager of author collaborations at Mapi Research Trust.
